Consilium Italy mark significant refitting orders
In a market scenario where orders for newbuildings in Italy and Europe have probably reached the lowest level since 2008, the sales activity is focused on business cases that can offer interesting opportunities. One of the still promising markets is certainly that of refitting and the reasons can be different; upgrading of old equipment needed, radical vessel modifications, especially for cruise vessels and need to comply with new Regulations.

Consilium Italy has completed two major refitting of Fire Detection Systems installed onboard cruise vessels: Amadea and Costa NeoRomantica. Amadea is a 28.856 GT vessel, owned by Amadea Shipping Company and managed by VShips Leisure in Monaco.

The scope of supply has been as follows:
Engineering of the new system
Delivery of new equipment
Planning of installation and commissioning
The new Fire Detection System is based on Salwico CCP (Consilium Common Platform) with 12 loops, 1800 automatic detectors and 110 manual call points. A SMS operator station has been installed in the safety area. The whole refitting activity, including the cable installation onboard, has been executed in two weeks time to full satisfaction of Owner and Shipmanager. Costa NeoRomantica is an upgrade project of the existing vessel, built in 1992 by Fincantieri and having a 53.000 GT. The refurbishment project includes 2 additional decks, 110 new cabins with private balconies, new spa and public areas.

The C300 Fire Detection System originally installed onboard has been replaced by a Salwico CCP with 15 loops, 2800 detectors and 480 manual call points. The job has been carried out at San Giorgio del Porto Yard in Genova. In the navigation market area, significant successes are represented by the orders for new radars and ECDIS to Moby Lines and Corsica Ferries, which are two of the most important Ropax ferry operators in the Mediterranean.
